8 Causes of the Fan Spinning Slowly and How to Fix It
The fan is one of the electronics that are often encountered and used as air conditioning by generating wind, to cool the air and provide a refreshing effect when the weather is hot.
Because the fan is often used, this causes the fan to be damaged. One of the most common types of fan failure is the fan spinning slowly or slowly. Here are the causes of the fan spinning slowly:
1. The Broken Capacitor
The most common cause of a fan running slowly is a faulty capacitor. This fan capacitor functions as a store of electric current to help the fan rotate when it is turned on.
If this capacitor is damaged due to bulging or the capacitor is weak, of course it will cause the electrolyte in the capacitor to decrease, so the fan rotates slowly.
Damage to this capacitor is indicated by the drying of the electrolyte liquid on the physical parts that look bloated, buzzing sound, and the fan needs to be helped to spin first when it is turned on.
To improve the condition of the fan that is having problems with the capacitor, it is to replace the old capacitor with a new capacitor, but it must be exactly the same as the previous capacitor. Because if the capacitors are not the same or have a higher value, it can cause damage to the dynamo.
2. The Axle Rotor Is Worn or Dirty
The part of the fan located in front of the dynamo is the axle rotor. When the rotor works as a place to rotate the fan blades. However, along with using the fan for a long time, the rotor will also be in a dirty, worn, damaged and dry condition.
This condition triggers the axle of the rotor to not operate properly, causing the fan to spin slowly. If the wear and tear of your fan is a problem then the fan can return to normal rotation by cleaning parts such as the rotor, lubricating the rotor, or replacing it with a new rotor.
3. Abnormal Fan Coil
If your fan is spinning slowly, the cause is an abnormal fan coil. The result of this abnormal coil is that it will reduce the ability of the fan blades to produce fast rotation.
Damaged fan coils can be indicated by the temperature of the dynamo getting hot quickly when used, the appearance of smoke and a charred smell coming out. Because the damage to the coil is quite difficult to repair, the fix is to replace the dynamo.
4. The Faulty Thermostat
If the thermostat on the fan has a problem or doesn’t work properly, it will certainly cause problems such as the fan spinning slowly.
This thermostat functions as a heat sensor and protector of the dynamo coil if it is experiencing excessive heat. If the problem occurs then to deal with this condition is to replace the old thermostat with a new thermostat.
5. The Broken Gearbox
A damaged gearbox will cause the fan to rotate slowly due to the gearbox pressure on the axle (rotating part). The gearbox functions to synchronize the fan rotation with the fan head so that it can move left and right.
Damage to the gearbox is like breaking or melting. If this problem is found in your fan, then to improve the condition of the fan that is damaged in the gearbox is to replace the old gearbox with a new one.
6. The Fan Rarely Cleaned
A fan that is rarely cleaned will make the fan dusty and have dirt that accumulates around the fan.
This makes the fan spin slowly because the dust covers the wind that comes out from behind the fan cover and causes the important functions of the fan components to not work properly.

7. The Fan is Old

As a result of the old age of the fan, the fan rotates slowly so it is necessary to replace some parts of the old and worn fan with a new one or buy a new fan again.

8. The Worn Out Fan Bearing
Bearing serves to reduce friction between two objects. Bearings on the fan can be in a hanging or stand position.
Worn or damaged fan bearings can be indicated by the fan rotation being unstable/slow, the fan beeping and vibrating, or the fan not turning at all.
